Abstract
The paper studies the ideology of Croatian nationalism of the late 1920's – 1930's and 40's. At that time,
Croat nationalism oriented mainly in rural areas. Hence the orientation of social and economic programs
in the Croatian peasantry. The focus of the research is given to the writings of famous Croatian writer
Mile Budak. That laid the foundation for the program of Budak Ustashi movement in addressing the
peasant question. At the same time, the ideas developed by Budak and Ustashi leader Ante Pavelic were
never put into reality.
