Abstract
The article is devoted to the phenomenon of «catch-up modernization». The paper considers the specificity of the processes arising as a result of the «secondary», «inorganic modernization», and they differ from of «primary», «organic modernization» phenomena (in a limited group of North-Western Europe countries in the early Modern period). The study shows that the vast majority of countries in the world followed «catch-up modernization» way so that such development should matter most in terms of typology.
