Abstract
D. Suvorov’s article discusses the «partial modernization» phenomenon. The paper considers the specific content and systemic order of this peculiar type of «catch-up modernization», it analyzes modern theories of science that map out this phenomenon as well. The study of its social and cultural patterns in many respects provides matrix for general understanding of modernization because the elements of «partial modernization» are characteristic for absolute majority of societies (including Russia) following the «secondary modernization» way.
