Abstract
The article analyzes L. Tolstoy’s literary works of the early period that reflected the writer’s interpretation of wandering as a secular phenomenon. Later, moving on to religious and philosophical contemplations, the thinker made his understanding of God-seeking wandering more profound in line with the Russian God-seeking movement, as his late works of art, journalistic reviews, diaries witness.
