Abstract
The article is devoted to the phenomenon of «pseudo-modernization» and «abortive modernization». The paper considers the specifics of this peculiar type of «catch-up modernization», its content and system of the laws. The author analyzes modern scientific theories focused on studying and systematizing this phenomenon (A. Touraine’s, K. Wittfogel’s, C. Krasilshchikova’s, S. Piiroinen’s, P. Sztompka’s concepts). Ideas of «non-Western modernization» formulated by some Islamic philosophers (A. Abdel-Malek, M. Iqbal, A. Mazroui, S. H. Nasr) has been subjected to a detailed analysis. The criteria to distinguish «pseudo-modernization» from partial modernization are the system approach principles and the concept of «negentropy» (R. Clausius, E. Schrödinger, L. Brillouin). Due to the fact that the elements of described types of «catch-up modernization» are common characteristics of many «second echelon» countries history on the path of «secondary modernization (including Russia), the study of this socio-cultural patterns is largely matrix.
