Abstract
When changing the place of residence any person almost inevitably goes through the stress, intensity and duration of which depends on personal constitutional characteristics of the individual and the specific social environment. The paper describes main factors which influence the migrants’ stress responding; provides an overview of major conceptual models of «culture shock». The author indicates the forms of socio-psychological assistance to migrants.
