Abstract
The article analyses the problem of the public discussion and the public sphere formation in modern media communications (mainly in online formats). The disintegration of the classical public discussion model, appeared in the Age of Enlightenment and described by J. Habermas, has been revealed. The fundamental difference between the modern media communication practice of discussion and socializing and the classic variant of the public discussion has been shown. It has been noted, however, that there is a need in binding the interacting subjects into the community and a possible emergence of the public sphere which requires different criteria to be described in comparison with the classical model.
