Abstract
The article analyses the administrative system of orthodox monasteries in the Russian Empire, particularly the peculiarities of monastery administrations at Yekaterinburg Diocese in the period from 1885 to 1917. The author considers the mechanism of organization stuff promotion as one of the reasons for rapid growth in the number of orthodox cloisters at the beginning of the 20th century. It was everyday managing activities of orthodox monasteries’ abbots that met the objectives of sustainable development of religious organizations in the Russian Empire.
