Abstract
The article provides a systematic description of «modesty» category as a regulative axiological concept and interprets it as a communicative constant. Based on the analysis of Russian dictionaries data and social communicative practices the high extent of «modesty» category’s conceptualization in Russian linguistic culture has been proved. The pragmatic principles of the category’s realization in the Russian communicative practice are also formulated.
