Abstract
The article discusses a method of profiling in the context of its use in ensuring the safety of citizens. The focus is the background of increased criminal activity and the proliferation of criminal activities in Russia. The issues of a potential criminal identification are examined. In this situation, the use of profiling in law enforcement practice could be of assistance. Observing the change in behavior and psycho-physiological reactions can prevent possible unlawful conduct. A «dangerous» citizen is characterized by certain signs that can reveal his illegal intentions. On the basis of existing experience the authors analyze personal characteristics of the most common types of terrorists. The basic signs mentioned in article help the Profiler to identify the alarming behavior. Thus, Profiling is a new trend that requires active development, especially in the field of law enforcement.
