Abstract
In the article, the author considers the events of 1917–1929 in the light of modernization problems. Analyzing the events of that time and philosophical reflections on this topic, the author comes to conclusions concerning the archaic, anti-modernization nature of the incident – in spite of the well-known declarations of the triumph of Bolshevism. The period of "new economic policy" is treated as an unsuccessful (though having a historical chance) attempt of remodernisation.
