Abstract
The article examines the relationship between the concepts of dance culture and choreographic culture. Their uniting principle is dance. In the earliest stages of human history, dance used to be a component of a single syncretic everyday life of people. Dance culture had not been isolated into a separate sphere yet; it was under formation. At later stages, there occurred a differentiation and complication of culture. «Dance culture» already denoted a unique set of established dance techniques, actions, their meanings – the dance tradition, as well as the skill of the performers. Choreographic culture does not appear as a result of the differentiation of a single syncretic culture. It also stems from its institutionalization and the emergence of professional performing art. Dance culture has become a technical and technological part of the choreographic culture. And through it, it is included in the artistic culture of society.
