Anthropology of Law: Subject, Method and Significance for Legal Science

The paper considers the subject and method of anthropology of law - a fairly new research direction in domestic legal science. The author makes an attempt to designate the complex subject of the anthropology of law and to designate its special place in the system of the humanitarian knowledge. The author also carried out work to establish methodological links between the theory of law and anthropology, the results of which indicate not only the possibility of mutual integration of the two sciences, but also such a need for a more complete knowledge of law, which is a multidimensional phenomenon. The author pays special attention to the role and importance of the anthropology of law for the development of legal science, its reorientation to the person as the central link of the legal system, and also points to the significant humanitarian potential of this area of research.
