Abstract
The quantity and the role of metropolises in modern world are steadily growing and the issue of defining what metropolis actually is still is problematic. Metropolis shows itself as a new type and new text of the city, having not only traditionally associated city space peculiarities (often modified), but also some unique and unprecedented features.
