Abstract
The article discusses the views and ideas about the nature and essence of the music of the Greek composer Evangelos Odysseas Papathanasiou (1949-2022). The paper indicates two aspects of the analysis: philosophical and culturological. The author of the article proceeds from the statement that the composer gives a fundamentally new understanding of the origins of musical creativity. The paper notes that the formation of the Master takes place under the influence of ancient Greek philosophy (Plato, Aristotle, Pythagoras) and mythology, as well as modern scientific ideas about the structure of the world (quantum physics). The author emphasizes that the musical creativity of the Greek composer is based on the principles of humanism and the assertion of the universal relationship between man and the Cosmos. The paper stresses that musical activity of Vangelis is of great importance for modern culture and is a factor in bringing various peoples and civilizations together.
