Development of the Financial Component of Higher Education Institutions in Present-Day Market of Educational Services

In recent decades, the sphere of higher education has undergone significant changes, mainly due to massification and digitalization trends of university education, as well as the emergence of the phenomenon of academic and professional mobility. In accordance with the changing conditions of the educational services market, the need to change the development strategies of universities has also been predetermined. An effective financing system has become a necessary condition for the competitiveness of the university, which includes, in addition to financing educational activities, the functioning of large-scale research teams, its own scientific schools and the R&D sphere. The purpose of this article is to analyze the features and trends in the development of the modern education system of Russian universities on the example of the regional higher education system of the Ural Federal District. To carry out such an analysis, the article presents indicators of the competitiveness of universities within the changing market of educational services for the period of 2015-2020.
