Abstract
The article concentrates on talent management as the basis for the formation of a talent pool. The purpose of the study is to analyze such a direction of talent management as formation of a reserve. The article analyzes the essence of the concepts of talent, talent management, formation of a personnel reserve, career planning. The research methodology was based on various conceptual approaches in domestic and foreign scientific literature. The authors critically assess these approaches and, on this basis, they form their understanding of the formation of a personnel reserve as an area of talent management. As a result, the authors drove to the following conclusions: talent is the highest development of a person’s abilities and their realization in any activity, the achievement of exceptional success in it. A talented employee shows excellent performance, has outstanding competencies; talent management is to plan, organize and motivate activities for creating a system of search, attraction, use, and development of talented employees in the organization; the personnel reserve is associated with the high potential of talented employees; the organization plans to promote them to key positions; development of special criteria in the form of a list of competencies and skills required for enrollment in the personnel reserve; creation of a personnel reserve program, which is formed according to these criteria.
