Stability of Law as a Legal Principle

The article deals with the category of “stability of law”, the problem of finding the essence of stability of law, the attribution of this concept to certain legal phenomena. In the course of the structural and functional analysis, the signs of legal stability corresponding to the signs of the principle of law are identified. The connections between these signs, which give the principle of legal stability its structural and functional unity, are revealed. The novelty of the provisions of this article consists in attributing the stability of law to the principles of law not only from the point of view of law as a system, but also as a result of identifying the conformity of the stability of law with the characteristics of the principle of law. Moreover, the nature of this phenomenon and the nature and degree of its expression in the legal system can be better understood by considering the stability of law through the prism of the signs of a legal principle.
