Abstract
The article analyzes the development of the ancient Russian philosophy of sacrifice in the religious works of Kirill of Turov, reveals the influence of the ascetic direction in the Christian teachings of the theologian on soteriological and epistemological criteria. Personal issues were perceived by the ancient Russian scribe through the prism of the theological views of the Holy Fathers of the Church. In life-meaning concepts of the outstanding preacher the priority was spiritual unity with God, eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. According to the views of the ancient Russian thinker, a believer will receive salvation through renunciation of worldly life. Only monasticism and deliverance from vice can bring a person closer to divine wisdom. Ascetic aesthetics is aimed at achieving spiritual beauty. In line with Christian teachings, asceticism bestows the grace of God, promotes moral purification, spiritual enlightenment. The soteriological criterion was the main one in the religious anthropology of Kirill of Turov. The saint paid considerable attention to ideas about Christian love and the principles of selfless service. The religious and philosophical reasoning of Kirill of Turov focuses on virtue, moral improvement of man, his relationship with the surrounding universe. Kirill of Turov contributed to the formation in the public consciousness of the need to follow the divine commandments, develop moral principles, selflessness, and show mercy. The works of the ancient Russian scribe contain discussions about the need for such moral qualities as obedience and humility, which allow the believer to approach spiritually the comprehension of divine greatness. In the works of the hierarch, the prerogative belongs to the development of personal qualities that correspond to Christian doctrines.
