Abstract
The article is dedicated to Sergey Sergeevich Alekseev (1924-2013), an outstanding scientist and organizer of science, jurist, philosopher, thinker, publicist, writer, statesman, Doctor of Law, professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The biography of S.S. Alekseev is traced as a process of his ascent to creative heights with particular emphasis placed on three of these areas: the theory of law, the Constitution of Russia, and the Civil Code of Russia. The article assesses Alekseev’s scientific contributions, highlighting the recognition he garnered from his peers in the scientific community. It also examines the memory of his contemporaries and the events organized in Russia and internationally to commemorate the centenary of his birth. It also contains a previously unpublished piece of work by S.S. Alekseev.
