Abstract
Employing the case study of students, this article explores the process of developing entrepreneurial aspirations among young people. The paper examines theoretical frameworks that attempt to explain and forecast the emergence of entrepreneurial intentions. The notion of entrepreneurial disposition and its implementation at the personal level, namely, individual entrepreneurial orientation, is specifically addressed. The authors’ interpretation of the terms “personal entrepreneurial mindset” and “entrepreneurial aspirations” is provided. The influence of business education on individual entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial intentions of students is considered. The impact of business education on the entrepreneurial mindset of students is a subject of focus. The findings of a sociological study conducted among students at the Ufa University of Science and Technology, using a specially designed questionnaire, are presented. The survey encompassed students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs across various fields, including humanities, engineering, and business-oriented programs. Students pursuing business-oriented educational programs exhibited a stronger inclination towards entrepreneurship and a higher level of entrepreneurial aspirations compared to their counterparts in other fields. It was revealed that the level of individual entrepreneurial orientation among students of the fields of study under consideration that is, the propensity (predisposition) to entrepreneurial activity differs to a lesser extent than entrepreneurial intentions (that is, real readiness). It is reasonable that business education has a beneficial effect on the propensity and willingness of students to engage in entrepreneurial activity. It is advisable to incorporate a comprehensive educational module on business and entrepreneurship into the curriculum of students in the fields of humanities and engineering. This will facilitate their more proactive engagement in entrepreneurial endeavors.
