The Problems of the Russian Pension System Reform

This paper examines the role, problems and trends of the Russian pension system reform. The impact of the current pension system on economic wealth of the country is overviewed taking into account the transition period. Changes of obligatory pension insurance are presented in relation to the insurant's rights to choose the variant of insurance and the way of his future pension formation. The problems impeding the reform of the pension system and preventing its effective implementation are identified.
