Abstract
In this article, the author examines the problem of the relationship between the Soviet totalitarian regime and the legacy of Russian classical music throughout the entire Soviet period of its history. These relationships go through three stages – “denial”, “domestication”, and “adaptation”. The article also examines the consequences of the described processes on the modern perception and socio-cultural existence of Russian classical music.
