Abstract
The article overviews pressing issues and key ideas of Russian university and college educators, Yekaterinburg school teachers and practitioners that they voices at the conference. Of special interest among them are the relevance of the problem of relations between peoples; the controversial and confrontational content of today’s assessments of Soviet history; the development of science as a value dominant of the Soviet mentality; the unifying role of the Russian language as a value guide to the Soviet future; questions of Soviet history in extracurricular activities; political and legal problems of crisis processes in the USSR; complex issues of the history of the Soviet period in modern school.
