Abstract
The article analyzes the philosophical concepts of Vladimir Monomakh, an integral part of which is the concept of good, and which are the meaning of life concepts in the worldview of the ancient Russian thinker, which were formed both under the influence of Christian postulates and had elements of ancient Slavic folk ideas. The article pays special attention to the anthropological, sociological and soteriological concepts characteristic of the worldview of Vladimir Monomakh. Due to the various issues that the work of the ancient Russian thinker is devoted, they contain not only religious and philosophical, but also moral criteria related to everyday life, reasoning about piety and virtue, regulating social and public relations. It is concluded that The Teachings of Vladimir Monomakh is characterized by the practicality and pragmatic orientation of his instructions, which are characteristic of all aspects of the religious and philosophical concepts of the ancient Russian prince. It is indicated that оne of the most important issues in the Christian religion is that the thinker defined the salvation of the soul through the performance of “small deeds.” Ideas about “good” in the views of Vladimir Monomakh were inseparable from social aspects that correlated with the concept of piety in mundane everyday life. The credo of the religious and philosophical concepts, which formed a complex of ideological principles of the ancient Russian thinker, should have contributed, in the opinion of the author of the work, to
humane government leading to the harmonization of social relations.
