Abstract
The declared interdisciplinary subject of the study is topical, as it is crucial to comprehend the exponential expansion of subjects engaged in intricate and multifaceted processes of convergence and interplay within the realm of media communication and the diverse information-retrieval thesauri (IRT). Their convergence, as a moving towards each other or gathering, or/and becoming very similar, has been a subject of growing interest among media scholars and practitioners alike. For different information-retrieval systems IRT is one of the main informational resources and the cornerstone of informational capital, which potentially promises new opportunities to attract customers. These new customers can be seen as agents of social capital in an information-driven consumer society. In this context, the development of multi-agent systems as self-organizing networks of intelligent agents, including those with the involvement of AI, is even more crucial. In this study, a thesaurus is treated as a particular type of explanatory dictionary that organizes words related to a specific domain of knowledge or aspect of social reality according to thematic categories. These words are accompanied by a range of lexical relationships, including synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms, and hyponyms, among others. The thesaurus of media communication is here understood as an abstract representation of the potential range of possible thesauri for analytical studies of media communication theory and practice. Some specific examples of different IRT are given in this research. The author’s socio-informational ontology of the convergence of thesauri in modern media is discussed. As a result of research, different levels and forms of realization of convergence of mediacommunications thesaurus and IRT are revealed. The paper will be useful for lecturers, scientific staff and researchers of IRT and mediacommunications, who are interested in social-philosophic problems of a thesaurus’ development in a modern media space.
